How long will a page last?
Updated: 21 October 2026
Any promise about decades from now deserves doubt, so here is how it actually works, instead of a promise about forever.
The address is ours
Every QR code points to pastpeople.life, a web address we hold ourselves, not to another company's platform. When a platform is sold, renamed or closed, every code pointing at it breaks. Because the address is ours, we can change what runs behind it without breaking a single code on a stone.
A code is never reused
Each 8-character code belongs to one memorial for good. Even if a page is closed, its code is never given to anyone else, so a code on a stone can never lead to the wrong person.
Nothing can lapse
There is no subscription and no yearly fee. A page never disappears because a card expired or a renewal email went unread years after the funeral.
The pages are plain
A memorial page is simple text and pictures: small enough to open on a weak signal in a cemetery, simple enough to outlast changes in technology, and easy to move somewhere else whole if it ever has to.
Engrave the code next to the QR
Ask your mason to engrave pastpeople.life and the 8-character code beside the QR
code. If the QR wears away, anyone can still type the code on our home page.
What this is not
None of this is a guarantee that our company will still exist in thirty or fifty years: nobody can honestly promise that. It is the set of choices that gives each memorial the best chance of lasting. What we commit to, and what we do not, is in section 3 of our Terms of Use.
